The Sun Peaks All-Nations Celebration Team are once again headed to Canada in early January 2014.
The Sun Peaks Family Cup Event Week has run for the last seven years, and is conducted by the Australian Sun Peaks Family Cup Committee in association with our Canadian partners from Sun Peaks Resort and Tourism Sun Peaks. To be held from January 1st to 15th 2014, with something for all ages and levels of ability in either ski or board, the two weeks of celebration consists of a variety of family focused activities, events and all-ability competitions including the signature races "The Sun Peaks Family Cup", and the “Kookaburra Loppet Cross Country Cup”.
How to Register?
Come by our registration desk at the following times to complete an entry form for the events;
- Village Day Lodge (in the breezeway above the steps) - 12.00pm - 1.00pm daily
- Delta Resort - 4.00pm - 5.00pm daily

The Sun Peaks Family Cup is a family-style Snowsports event open to any individual, family or team from any Country, in both ski and board. The event is conducted on a modified Dual GS type course and is suitable for all standards of competitor. With just under 100 competitors in 2013 from five Countries (Australia, New Zealand, Canada, England & Singapore) Australia won the coveted Sun Peaks Family Cup Country Award, closely followed by Canada and England.
The Kookaburra Loppet Cross Country Cup is in its 5th year of operation on the spectacular Sun Peaks XC trails. This family fun event is open for all levels of XC Skiers. The race is a free-ski style race, though we may look to introduce a classic class if there is sufficient interest in 2014. There is a short course (2km) for beginners and novice skiers, a 5km course for those intermediate skiers looking for a bit more of a challenge, whilst the 15km and 30km course is for the advanced XC competitors.
Apart from our main events above, there are many other activities planned for the 2014 event fortnight, including:
- Gates Training on the SPFC Race-Course from Monday 6th to Friday 10th
- The Skating Party & Family Fun Night on Tuesday 9th
- The Children’s Obstacle Course on Thursday 9th
- The High Roller Mountain Marathon followed by the Welcome Reception Party on Friday 10th
- The Sun Peaks Family Cup on Saturday 11th
- The Kookaburra Loppet Cross-Country Cup on Sunday 12th
- The Tubing Party on Sunday 12th
